This weekend, we took a quick trip to our house in the countryside, where we hoped for a cozy winter getaway. We couldn’t stay long (the water freezes in the pipes, and the house doesn’t have heating yet), but we were excited to get some fresh air after the recent snowfall.
Living in Prague, snow feels like a rare treat. So, with sleds ready at the house, we couldn’t wait to make the most of it.

We spent most of the day sliding down gentle slopes and exploring the snowy garden. There’s something special about how snow transforms everything, making even familiar views feel new. While wandering around, I checked on an experiment I started in October. I tried growing salad greens under a protective white cover, hoping the late autumn weather would work. Sadly, the greens didn’t thrive. They barely survived, reminding me of their presence without growing much.
It’s a reminder that not every idea works out as planned, especially with nature’s unpredictability. But I’m glad I tried—another lesson for next season.

As we packed to leave, I thought about the future of this house. One day, the pipes won’t freeze, and heating will keep us warm during winter weekends. For now, I’m thankful for these short but peaceful moments, even if they’re just a daylong escape.
